Man charged in shooting death of girlfriend

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A Red Rock man is in jail today for a shooting that killed his 19-year-old girlfriend.

Pinal County Sheriff's detectives have charged Ramiro Delcid, 20, with negligent homicide for the incident last night at Red Rock Feeding at 35301 S. Hollis Road.

Investigators say Delcid told them he and the victim were in a pickup truck when he unloaded his .38 caliber pistol and pointed it at her, trying to scare her.

Detectives say Delcid then pulled the trigger, thinking the gun was not loaded, but the gun fired, hitting her in the chest.

She died at the scene.

Delcid was booked into the Pinal County Jail.
