PHOENIX (AP) - A New York man indicted in Arizona on charges that he made Twitter death threats against two national TV commentators over their coverage of Jodi Arias is set for a court appearance.
David Lee Simpson, of Bath, N.Y., faces five felony counts related to Twitter threats against Nancy Grace and Jane Velez-Mitchell. They're hosts on Turner Broadcasting's HLN network who covered Arias' murder trial in Phoenix.
Investigators say the 48-year-old also threatened an Arizona woman. A judge entered not-guilty pleas for Simpson.
Simpson was in New York when he sent the tweets. However, Arizona asserted jurisdiction since authorities say the threats were made against individuals for conduct during their coverage of a case that was occurring in Maricopa County, and that both TV personalities were in Arizona at times.
