Trevor Sims dies after courageous battle against cancer

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

People close to the family of Trevor Sims, the little boy whose dying wish was to give instead of receive, said he has lost his battle with cancer.

The 11-year-old, who just celebrated his birthday on Sunday, passed away overnight.

"Trevor is now a sweet little angel in heaven and radiating energy and joy," family spokesperson Jeanne McNeil posted on Facebook early Wednesday morning. "Pray for his family during this tough time and thanks for all your support and prayers!"

Instead of going to Disney World or meeting a celebrity, his dream was to help feed the hungry.

"Trevor's Wish" was a campaign to collect food for the hungry. He partnered with the Baton Rouge Food Bank to make it happen.

Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9 to 11 at Healing Place Church, with services to follow.
