PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Phoenix police said they have arrested a suspect in a 16-year-old, cold-case murder.

Randall Larson, 37, was arrested Thursday in connection with the death of Victor Moreno on the morning of April 25, 1997.

After the case went cold, the Phoenix Police Department's Homicide Cold Case Squad reviewed the case in 2012 and was able to forensically link Larson as a suspect in Moreno's murder, said Sgt. Steve Martos.

Moreno, who was 20 years old, left behind his pregnant girlfriend, who soon gave birth to Moreno's daughter, Martos said.

Moreno's girlfriend and teenage daughter were expected to join Phoenix police at a news conference Wednesday at police headquarters, 620 W. Washington St., to discuss the arrest and the case.
