More than 50 arrests in domestic violence sweep

LUCAS COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Lucas County Sheriff's Office confirmed more than 50 total arrests were made Wednesday as a result of the county's 16th annual domestic violence sweep.

A total of 16 different agencies worked together over the course of three weeks to compile the list of perpetrators.  The sweep began Wednesday morning at 6:30 a.m. and continued until 8:30 p.m.

The results: 47 different offenders were arrested on domestic violence charges, and five more were brought up on other felonies.

Sheriff John Tharp said they've now made more than 200 domestic violence arrests this year.

However, one target the sheriff's office was not able to arrest is Daniel Boone, who is accused of domestic violence against his sister.

    The University of Arizona Softball team lost 6-5 to Baylor on Sunday evening at Rita Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium in Tucson. The loss ends the Wildcats' season as they have been knocked out of the 2017 Women's College World Series in the super regional round.
