TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Arizona's 2013-14 women's basketball squad met with the media on Thursday to preview the upcoming season and reflect on preseason training.

"For us, we are going to have to use our quickness and athleticism," said head coach Niya Butts. "That is probably our biggest thing right now. If we can understand exactly when and where we need to use that and how we can use it to our advantage, we're going to be a tough team to reckon with, especially as the season goes along."

The Wildcats will host 15 home games in the 2013-14 season, beginning with an exhibition game versus Fort Lewis to kick the season off on Saturday, Nov. 2.

During the season, Arizona will face four opponents that appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 2013, including Final Four-contender California, and eight teams that appeared in the postseason NIT.

Arizona moves on after the departure of Davellyn Whyte, the program's second leading scorer and a four-year starter who did not miss a game during her Wildcats career.

The Wildcats have not been to the NCAA Tournament during Butts' five-year tenure and have combined to lose 35 games the last two seasons.
