'Pack the Park' donation event happening today

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Today organizers are gearing up for the annual Hope Fest, an annual event that provides a number of donations and services for the homeless and for people who are just struggling financially.

Hope Fest organizers are collecting donations for the big event, happening on Saturday, October 19.  Organizers say they began these last minute donation efforts because they thought ‘we already have Kino reserved on Friday for Hope Fest set up, so let's use that time to do more.'

Several items they are looking for – gently used and new clothing, canned food, bottled water and one of the most important donations – hygiene items like shampoo and toothpaste.  They are also looking for donations for children like stuffed animals and diapers.

Those interested in helping can drop donations off at Kino Stadium now till 7 p.m. this evening.  In the past people have really stepped up in these last minute donation drives, bringing items by and dropping them off.  Businesses as well have helped, like Costco who brought in several pallets of supplies.
