Report: Women held captive for 6 days, sexually assaulted in South Tucson

SOUTH TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A Tucson man was arrested after two women said he drugged and sexually assaulted them in a South Tucson motel for nearly a week.

A 21-year-old and 25-year-old told police on Oct. 15 they were held against their will, sexually assaulted, beaten and injected with narcotics for six days at El Camino Motel in the 200 block of E. Benson Highway.

South Tucson Police Department and Tucson Police Department officers responded to the reported location and arrested the suspect, 34-year-old Francisco Canez.

Police later secured evidence from the scene with a search warrant.

Canez was charged with sexual assault, kidnapping, aggravated assault, weapons violations and robbery, police said.

He is being held on a $500,000 bond in the Pima County Jail.
