MADISON, TN (WSMV) -

Had it not been for an alert person in the area, some suspects might have gotten away with thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from a beauty supply store in Madison.

Someone called 911 just after midnight Wednesday saying they saw two suspicious men lurking around Hair World Beauty Supply at 411 Gallatin Pike.

The witness told police two men broke into the business through a back door.

When police arrived on the scene, they say one of the suspects tried to leave with a bag of stolen merchandise but went back inside.

Police say they told the men to come outside, and when the suspects refused, the K-9 team was sent in after them. Both suspects were treated at a nearby hospital for bites.

Brian Wiseman, 29, and Acel Pope Jr., 31, are both charged with burglary.

Wiseman is also charged with criminal impersonation for giving officers a false name

Wiseman was convicted on a robbery charge in 2011 and has prior convictions for forgery, theft and domestic assault. His bond was set at $45,000.

Pope, who is homeless, has a previous drug possession conviction and his bond was set at $25,000.
