TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Police are searching for three people connected to an attempted armed robbery that left one suspect dead.

A man told Tucson Police officers he shot one suspect just before 1 a.m. following an altercation outside a residence in the 400 block of E. Navajo Road.

He stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Investigators determined two men were talking in a vehicle in front of the residence when one of them left to go inside the home.

A white four-door sedan drove up and stopped in front of the vehicle. A passenger, later identified as 25-year-old Gabriel Jackson, exited the sedan and approached the man sitting in the vehicle. He reportedly pointed a gun at the man and demanded money and valuables.

The man quickly exited out the driver's side door, brandished a gun and fired several times at Jackson, police said. Jackson was hit at least once before running away on foot, but collapsed shortly after.

The victim then saw three people in the sedan, which left the area, headed east.

Detectives work to identify the other occupants of the white sedan. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
