The Pima County Sheriff's Department says a boy who reported an attempted abduction on Tucson's northwest side made up the story to avoid being punished.
The boy told authorities that he was followed by a man while he was walking to Thornydale Elementary School, near Magee and Thornydale, around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday morning.
According to a PCSD news release, the child fabricated the story in order to avoid getting in trouble for taking a route to school which had been prohibited by his parents.
