TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Interstate 10 is open this morning, after a midday dust storm likely caused a multi-car crash that killed three.

The accident happened just north of Tucson near Picacho Peak on the westbound side of the interstate.  For those headed north to Phoenix today the interstate has been cleared in both directions, and has been since about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.  The multi-vehicle wreck forced a shutdown of more than 10 hours yesterday.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety stated three people were killed in the 19 car pile-up, and several others were injured.

According to UAMC eight people were admitted to the hospital for treatment.  Five were discharged after treatment and are home while three remain in the hospital – one is listed as serious and two are listed as fair.
