Tucson, AZ — FC Tucson revealed Wednesday that it would take on Chivas USA of Major League Soccer in the inaugural match at the North Stadium at Kino Sports Complex. During a ceremony officially opening the stadium, FC Tucson announced that the 2013 FC Tucson Fall Showcase will take place on Friday, November 15, at 7 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets to the event beginning Thursday, October 31, at Noon, by going to FCTucson.com.

"This is just another chapter in the story of soccer's growth in Tucson," said the FC Tucson ownership in a joint statement. "We're incredibly proud to be a part of this story and continue to put our stake in our version of the world's game. To play a Major League Soccer team in the first event in our new home is a dream come true. And a tremendous thank you to Pima County and Kino Sports Complex, Desert Diamond Casino, Chapman Automotive and all of our fantastic corporate partners. Finally, we want to thank our tremendous soccer community because we all can share in this beautiful new home."

Added Chivas USA Director of Soccer Francisco Palencia: "It's a fantastic opportunity and very important for us to participate with FC Tucson in an exhibition game, as it will help us stay active during the off-season. We come into this game knowing that they have a good fan base behind them and a great facility, so we are taking it very seriously, with the mentality of enjoying every minute of it while also treating it with the same significance and professional attitude we approach every game."

Chivas USA's roster is bolstered by former U.S. Men's National Team captain Carlos Bocanegra at the helm of the defense, along with Ecuadorian national Oswaldo Minda in the midfield. The Red-and-White's young rising Mexican star Erick "Cubo" Torres will lead the attack against FC Tucson, proving once again why the striker was awarded the club's Golden Boot in the 2013 MLS regular season with seven goals.

The North Stadium at Kino Sports Complex has a total capacity of 2,360, which includes the stadium grandstand, four field bleachers, a party tent area, two loges located at the top of the grandstand and an exclusive observation deck located on top of the new concessions stand, south of the stadium. There will also be a fan zone along the walkway leading up to the stadium.

In addition to the new stadium, Pima County also added an additional soccer field as well as a brand new, soccer-themed entrance to the north side of the Kino Sports Complex. The facility has a total of six soccer fields that will be used nearly all year long by varying levels of soccer players from professional to youth. The complex will also be used for other field sports.

But the inaugural event at the new stadium will pit FC Tucson against Chivas USA.

"Soccer fans will be thrilled with this stadium and complex," said FC Tucson Chief Business Officer Chris Keeney. "Every FC Tucson event will be a block party celebrating soccer and community pride. There are a few more than 2,300 seats available for this event against CD Chivas USA so grab your seats now to be a part of this historical first night."
