A jury has decided not to sentence Kyle Alegria to death.
Officials said he faces up to life in prison when he's sentenced next month.
Alegria was convicted of first degree murder, kidnapping and sexual conduct with a minor in the death of 7-year-old Rhia Almeida.
Her body was found in 2009 in a wash behind Alegria's home in Ajo.
Deputies say she lived a few streets away and had gone to Alegria's home to play with his younger brother.
His sentencing is set for Dec. 9 at 1:30 p.m.
