TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Preparations are underway for the All Souls Procession. Each year hundreds of people march through downtown Tucson for the parade.

It's meant to honor the dead and celebrate their lives.

Leon Sierra is making some new additions to his skull float this year. He is putting in a device to make the jaw open and close and putting LED lights inside the eyes.

Sierra is riding the float for his father who passed away almost two years ago.

"It's great. Last year I felt him walking next to me. He was really there and he was enjoying it. It was something we did together again," Sierra said.

The festivities begin Saturday. To view the route map, click here.

Tucson News Now will be at the procession on Sunday to bring you live reports.
