TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Saturday marks the official celebration of "Day of the Dead." As Tucsonans prepare for Sunday's procession, festivities have already begun taking place.

Volunteers organized a the first ever, "Night of the Living Festival" at Old Tucson. They had 24 bands, rides and miniature golf. Volunteers sold Day of the Dead merchandise to offset the costs of the parade.

Each year, volunteers raise around $80,000 to pay for advertisements, security and the city to barricade the parade route.

Sarah Polle came as far as Seattle to attend the festivities.

"My father passed away 2 years ago and I think it definitely changes your perspective about life and enjoying family and the way you see life on earth and the possibility of afterlife," said Polle.

Saturday's event goes on until 1 a.m. Tucson News Now will be at Sunday's parade and have live reports on the news.
