Voters don't approve Vail incorporation

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Vail residents have decided not to become their own town. After all precincts votes were tallied as of 9:30 p.m. Tuesday the ballots read 56 percent not in favor and 44 percent in favor.

Back in June, the Pima County Recorder's Office confirmed that The Citizens of Vail committee collected 1,027 valid signatures, hundreds more than the required 717 signatures needed, to hold today's election.

The proposed area of incorporation is smaller than the Vail School District by nearly 23,000 voters.

The last incorporation election took place in 2001 for the attempted incorporation of Casas Adobes.
