Vail residents decide not to incorporate

VAIL, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Election results this morning, with 100 percent of the precincts reporting.

One of the biggest issues on the ballot for the people in Vail was whether or not to incorporate.  For the moment the answer is no – Vail will remain part of Pima County.

Although there was a big push by a group to incorporate Vail, it did not happen.   Of those who voted 56 percent were not in favor of the incorporating, while only 44 percent were behind it.  Back in June residents collected more than 1,000 signatures to put Prop. 4-3 on the ballot; however, voters in Vail were the first in Pima County to use election tablets.  This is part of a pilot program.

Voters just had to show their drivers license and sign their name.  Many say this method is much faster than traditional methods.  The new system is expected to save tens of thousands of dollars over time.
