VA hospitals hosts 7th Annual Veterans Day celebration

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Southern Arizona VA health care system will be hosting the 7th Annual 2013 Veterans Day celebration.

The event will be Saturday, Nov. 9, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the VA Medical Center Sports Park.

This event will allow the VA to join together with the Tucson community to provide information and resources to all veterans, service members and their families.

This event welcomes all veterans in Arizona and those visiting Arizona, including Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn combat veterans, active duty military, Reserve and National Guard personnel and their families.

There will be a wide range of family activities and live entertainment throughout the day. Lunch will be provided for all registered attendees. Visitors are encouraged to enter at the Sixth Avenue Gate.

Representatives will be available from SAVAHCS with information from eligibility and enrollment, post deployment care, primary care, women's health program, and much more.

There will also be 15 employment agencies present for those interested in job information and placements. Be sure to bring resumes.

A children's play area and activities, including a balloon artist, pony rides, crafts, and games will be at the event. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets with them to the VA Medical Center. Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited at this event.

    According to Rural/Metro officials, crews arrived at the scene to find that a house under renovation, was engulfed in flames. It took 24 firefighters and eight units a half hour to get the fire under control.
