TUCSON, AZ – Head coach Niya Butts and the Arizona women's basketball team will open their regular season on Friday, Nov. 8 in New Rochelle, N.Y. at the Iona College Tip-Off Tournament.

The Wildcats will face Iona at 6:30 p.m. ET on Friday and will play either Michigan or Bowling Green on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. ET.

Arizona brings a new team identity to the floor this year, as it returns several key players, but saw an impressive impact from its newcomers in its 80-65 win over Fort Lewis College on Saturday, Nov. 2.

The Gaels welcome first-year head coach Billi Godsey this year after she served as an assistant coach at Virginia Tech for two seasons. The 2013-14 squad features junior Damika Martinez, who was unanimously selected as the MAAC Women's Basketball Preseason Player of the Year. In 2012-13, she averaged 18.1 ppg, including a .422 mark from the three-point line.

The Wildcats are 19-16 all-time in season openers and 2-0 versus Iona all-time. The two teams met in Arizona's 2009 season-opener at the Iona College Tip-Off Tournament, where UA took a 77-70 edge in overtime.
