PHOENIX (AP) - A Hopi High School football player who scored his team's only touchdown in a playoff game over the weekend has died from an injury sustained in the fourth quarter.

The Arizona Interscholastic Association said Monday night that Charles Youvella died at a hospital of a traumatic brain injury.

Youvella, a senior, was injured in Hopi's 60-6 loss to Arizona Lutheran Saturday in the Arizona Division V first round playoffs. Hopi High School is in Kearns Canyon, Ariz., on the Hopi Indian Reservation in northeastern Arizona.

Youvella's father, Wallace, is a member of the Arizona Interscholastic Association. The AIA said Charles Youvella died with his family by his side.

The AIA said an account would be established to help defray costs for the Youvella family.
