Salvation Army seeks donations for Thanksgiving dinner

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Locally one organization is looking for help to provide a Thanksgiving meal to as many people as possible.

The Salvation Army will be hosting its 29th annual Thanksgiving dinner at the St. Demetrios Church this year, but in order to feed the folks in need, they need donations.  They are expected to serve over 3,000 meals for Thanksgiving, a huge undertaking for the organization.

There is a team of volunteers that help cook and decorate for the dinner, but there are only 30 turkeys to cook so far and very few side dishes.

Here is what they need – turkeys, canned vegetables, bread, frozen pies that are pre-baked.  All items do not need to be cooked and those interested in donating can find these items at their local grocery store.

Donations can be brought to the Salvation Army office at Richey and 11th Ave.  The annual Thanksgiving dinner is November 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.
