MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

A motorcyclist who allegedly broke a traffic law fled Mesa police because he said he couldn't afford another ticket, officers said.

Ryan Kolmos, 26, was booked into the Mesa City Jail on a charge of felony unlawful flight.

Officers said they saw Kolmos failing to yield the area of Country Club and McKellips and speeding off eastbound on Red Mountain Freeway.

Police said they tracked Kolmos to his home address an hour later by obtaining the motorcycle's registration.

Kolmos told police he knew officers were following him trying to get him to stop, according to a police report.

Police discovered his license was suspended. His motorcycle was found parked on a residential street nearby.
