The Cincinnati Bengals are teaming up with Cohen Recycling to honor America Recycles Day.
An electronic recycling event will be at Longworth Hall today from 10 until 1, giving people the chance to recycle all unwanted electronics safely to keep harmful materials out of landfills.
Bengals players will be on hand for autographs and pictures between 11:30 and 12:30 during the event. Everyone recycling items can also enter for a chance to win prizes including a VIP experience with club seats and sideline passes to a Bengals home game.
E-waste is the fastest growing waste stream in the world. Every year nearly 50 million metric tons of electronics are thrown away, many of which contain lead, cadmium, mercury, and other hazardous elements that can pollute the air, contaminate soil, and leach into water supplies. Health risks from e-waste range from kidney disease to brain damage.
Items that can be recycled at the event include computer towers, laptops, cell phones, cords, wires and just about anything else with an on/off switch. Click here for a full list of items being accepted.
