A price war among gas stations in Northern Kentucky is making for some low prices at the pump.
FOX19 found at least three stations in Florence selling gas for $2.75 a gallon, a price most folks in the tri-state haven't seen for a long time.
Tonight the average cost of a gallon of gas in Cincinnati is 3.17...so it may be worth the drive to Florence fill up.
At the Kroger station along Mall Road the $2.75 gas was just too tempting for some motorists to pass up especially since other area stations are selling gas for $3.19 and higher.
Prices have been trending lower over the past few weeks, but prices like these come as a pleasant surprise to motorists like Rodney Carter who says "most gas prices I usually see...they're usually like $3.50, $3.75 so to see that $2.75 today is actually a great deal because I've been driving since I was 16 and it's been years since I've seen it this low "
Jeff Barber of Florence says he's very sensitive to gas prices because he does a lot of driving. "I put at least 150 to 300 miles per week on my vehicle and so and I pay for it it's not company paid so basically I'm always looking for the best prices."
Industry experts say there is the potential for gas prices to drop even further. However, there is widespread belief that gas prices may have hit their bottom so don't be surprised if prices start to creep back up in the coming weeks, but it all boils down to supply and demand and experts say right now we're in an oversupply situation.
