TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Two people were critically injured today when their vehicle went off the road on Catalina Highway and came to rest 150 feet below.

According to Rural/Metro, the man and woman were in critical condition and were to be airlifted to University of Arizona Medical Center.

One person has been rescued and crews are working on rescuing the other. The chopper is on standby.

It is not yet known why their Jeep Liberty left the roadway at Milepost 3.2.
