AAA: Arizona gas prices freeze

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON (Tucson News Now) - Arizona gas prices are staying nearly unchanged compared to last week, according to AAA.

The auto club says the averageprice of gas in Arizona is $3.147 pergallon, while the national average dropped 3 cents to $3.252 per gallon.

"Lingering effects from last week's maintenance at Gulf Coast refineries haveresulted in pump prices stabilizing in the metro regions of our state," says Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona.

Tucson and Flagstaff hold the low and high state fuel averages at $3.072 and$3.359 per gallon, respectively. Missouri and Connecticut hold the lowest andhighest average prices for the lower 48 states at $2.929 and $3.648 per gallon, respectively.

"While cheaper wholesale gasoline making its way to the market could helpprices move lower, the price of crude oil is creeping back up and could causeretail prices to plateau," Gorman said. "At this point, it's too soon to tellwhich of these will be the dominating factor."
