'Mini' air show in Oro Valley to help the Wounded Warrior Project

ORO VALLEY, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Happening on Saturday, a special event to help the Wounded Warrior Project that involves some 100 radio controlled model aircraft.

The event will be hosted by the Sonoran Desert Flyers and takes place at Naranja Park near Naranja Drive and La Canada. 

The ‘mini' air show is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon and admission is free.  There will be 25 members of the Sonoran Desert Flyers flying their models ranging from helicopters and quadcopters to fan jets and warbirds, as well as sailplanes and acrobatic flyers.  More than 100 model planes will also be on ‘static' display, with their flyers on hand to answer visitor's questions. 

Also expected at the event is a fleet of manned paragliders. Their equipment will be on display as well. 

While admission to this mini air show is free, visitors are encouraged to purchase a raffle ticket for a $1 - with the proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project.
