TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Tucson Salvation Army is partnering with the Tucson Fire Department and El Con Mall to collect new, unwrapped toys to assist needy families over the holiday season.

A "Stuff the Fire truck" event will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in hopes of reaching its goal of 35,000 toys, which is the amount they distribute every year.

The Tucson Fire Department will have a specialized fire truck on the south side parking lot at the El Con Mall, located at 3601 E. Broadway Blvd.

The Salvation Army toy distribution is scheduled for Dec. 16 through Dec. 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Officials said it serves more than 1,600 families with toys, clothing and books. The Salvation Army expects thousands of children to be assisted in the final days before Christmas.

Toys can also be dropped off at The Salvation Army at 1001 N. Richey Blvd. or at any Christmas Angel Trees location, which can be reached at (520) 795-9671.
