Work begins on Rocky Point cruise ship port

After years of talking, planning, and finding the funding, a major construction project finally got underway today in Puerto Penasco, Mexico, better known to most Americans as Rocky Point.

The first rock was laid in what will become the Puerto Penasco Home Port; a massive pier that will be able to accommodate cruise ships when it's finally completed.

Tuesday morning trucks brought in the rocks to Sandy Beach. For those of you familiar with the area, this is on the end of the beach closest to Cholla Bay.

According to the Sonoran Tourism Department, 191 million pesos have been appropriated for the first phase of construction.

we'll keep you posted on this project that could help catapult Rocky Point into a world class vacation destination and will no doubt be a huge economic boost the nearby condos on Sandy Beach.
