Homicide victim had been reported kidnapped

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A man found murdered on Tucson's southwest side was the victim in a reported kidnapping, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities said Fabian Maldonado-Leon was the victim in a reported kidnapping near South Campbell Avenue and East Irvington Road shortly before his body was discovered.

Sheriff's investigators said a passerby found Maldonado-Leon's body Monday morning on a utility road near South San Joaquin and West Snyder Hill roads.

The body showed obvious signs of trauma, investigators said.

Investigators have a possible suspect description:

  • Hispanic male
  • Mid-30s
  • 180-200 pounds
  • Dark hair and mustache
  • Wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.

Anyone with information about this incident or possible suspect is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
