TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

U.S. Customs and Border Protection plans to extend its operation hours at the Mariposa Port of Entry and Morley Pedestrian Gate crossings in Nogales, Ariz.

Officials said longer hours will help facilitate the flow of travelers during the upcoming "paisano season," the time of year when people cross the border to be with their families, according to a CBP news release.

The Mariposa Port will run from 6 a.m. to midnight from Dec. 13 through Jan. 15, 2014. This includes vehicle, pedestrian and bus processing.

The Morley Pedestrian Gate will operate daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Dec. 13  through Dec. 24.
