TUPELO, MS (RNN) – The Mississippi State Bulldogs fought off a tough opponent in the Southeastern Louisiana Lions to win 68-62 Friday night.

The Bulldogs (6-2) led by eight points early on, but the Lions (3-6) played them close throughout the game, with the Lions taking a 33-32 lead at the end of the first half.

The Lions continued to lead well into the second half, until the Bulldogs went on a 5-0 run in the middle of the second frame to take the lead for good.

The Bulldogs' were decent shooting from the floor, making 54 percent of their field goal range and 53 percent of their free throw attempts.

Guard Craig Sword was MSU's leading scorer with 22 points, and has scored 20+ points for the third game in a row. Forwards Gavin Ware and Colin Borchert bother scored nine points each.

MSU is now 18-1 against the Lions and are 51-4 against the teams of the Southland Conference.

Mississippi State's next game is at home versus the Florida A&M Rattlers on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
