TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The United States Postal Service is gearing up for a busy week with the holidays fast approaching.

People stopped off at post offices around Southern Arizona Sunday, dropping off letters and packages trying to beat the rush expected this week.

Monday is expected to be the busiest day of the year for USPS. Around the nation, they expect to see more than 600 million pieces of mail processed tomorrow.

Tucson resident, Guy Maiorano, says he is done sending out gifts this season, "Everybody I sent stuff to, they already have it. Now I can relax and I don't have to go through the rush. I've been through it many times."

If you plan to send a letter or package to a loved one serving in the military overseas, Tuesday is the deadline for priority mailing to make sure it gets there for the holidays.
