TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Sheriff's deputies are asking for help identifying a suspect in a carjacking last week on Tucson's southwest side.

According the Pima County Sheriff's Department, the suspect is described as a Hispanic or Native American man, 5'7" with a medium build, 20 to 30 years old. He was wearing a dark possibly denim jacket and jeans. He was armed with a black semiautomatic handgun, possibly a Ruger.

Investigators say the man approached two people who were in a car at the gas pumps at the Circle K at 2840 West Los Reales Road at South Cardinal Avenue on Dec. 13.

He allegedly demanded their car at gunpoint, but allowed the woman to get her baby out of the back seat, according to a news release.

A passerby who witnessed the incident followed the vehicle, which fled west on Los Reales and turned onto a dirt road. The suspect stopped the vehicle abruptly, causing the witness to also stop, and allegedly pointed a gun at the witness and demanded his wallet.

There is no video or photo available of this incident.

The vehicle has been recovered, but anyone with information about the suspect or the incident is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
