CASA GRANDE, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Pinal County Sheriff's officials said they arrested two people in separate cars who were driving recklessly, and now one faces drug charges.

Deputies said two drivers weaved in and out of traffic at speeds 30 miles above the posted limit while traveling east on State Route 287, near Hacienda Road in Casa Grande on Tuesday.

The deputy stopped both vehicles and identified the drivers as 25-year-old Christopher Shoemaker and 22-year-old Angel Rivas, Jr.

As the officer searched the suspects, he found plastic baggies containing a white, powdery substance in Rivas' pockets. A PCSO K-9 deputy sniffed the bags and alerted officials to an illegal drug, later tested positive as cocaine.

Deputies found a prescription bottle of Codeine in the vehicle, though the name of the person it was prescribed to was removed. Rivas said the bottle was his but did not say whose medicine it was.

Both men were booked into the Pinal County Jail on reckless driving charges, and Rivas was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a narcotic drug.
