TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

More than 100 volunteers took time out of their Christmas to spread cheer at Pima Animal Care Center.

They gathered Wednesday morning to walk the dogs at the shelter. Volunteers will do the same thing on New Year's day.

Organizers said they're surprised by the outpouring of support.

Pima Animal Care Center was also open for adoptions this afternoon. They have about 130 adoptable dogs and 35 adoptable cats.
