Dessert Pizza - Nonna Maria's

Chocolate pizza dough

1/4 c cocoa

3/4 cup warm water

  • 1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour

Toppings: Your Preference

cherry pie: 1 can cherry pie filling, 1/2 c oats, 2 tablespoons butter 1 tsp. cinnamon

smores:1 jar marshmallow fluff, 1/4 c chocolate chips, 2 graham crackers

nutella & fruit: 1/2 jar nutella, 1/2 c sliced strawberries, 1 banana sliced



  • Put the warm water in your stand mixer bowl and sprinkle the surface with the yeast. Let stand for 2 minutes to soften, then whisk. Let stand until bubbly, approx 10 minutes.

- Mix  in the olive oil and salt.

- With dough hook,  begin adding the flour slowly, until fully incorporated. The dough will be  moist and sticky.

- The dough should be moist and a little tacky. Shape into a ball. 

- Generously oil  a bowl, place dough in bowl  and turn the dough to coat it in the oil. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm  place until doubled in size.  (about an hour)

  •  Punch dough, cover, and let rise until doubled again.

- Preheat oven to 500F

- oil a pizza pan,  shape out the dough onto the pan, cover and let stand for 10 mins.

  • Bake at 500 for 20 min
  • once out of oven customize with your favorite dessert toppings:
  • smores:  1 jar marshmallow fluff, 1/4 c chocolate chips, 2 graham crackers crumbled layer in order written on pizza
  • cherry pie: 1 can cherry pie filling, 1/2 c quick oats, 1/2 tablespoon butter, 1 tsp cinnamon place pie filling on pizza crust & mix last 3 ingredients together in a separate bowl.  Top cherry pie with oats mix & bake
  • nutella & fruit:  spread nutella on crust top with strawberries & banana
  • bake approx. 8 min
