TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - St. Mary's Breast Imaging Center has been given a designation of 'excellent' by the American College of Radiology.
This designation was earned after the Imaging Center earned all accreditations from both the college's mandatory and voluntary programs.
"This designation demonstrates that our Breast Center meets the highest standards for quality patient care set by an independent professional organization," stated Amy Beiter, M.D., president and CEO of Carondelet St. Mary's Hospital, in a recent release "It is a rigorous process that is voluntary and shows our commitment to women's health."
Fully accredited services include: mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast MRI, MRI-guided breast biopsies, as well as breast ultrasound and ultrasound guided breast biopsy.
The Center achieved high marks in peer reviews of their image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.
The Breast Center at St. Mary's is thought of as a 'center without walls', featuring multifaceted professionals that are 'focused on the prevention, early detection and prompt treatment of breast diseases.'
This new designation is in addition to the accreditation the center has in Mammography, Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
