PIMA COUNTY (Tucson News Now) - You can help get rid of a pesky grass that increases the wildfire danger.

The Southern Arizona Buffelgrass Center is organizing the seventh annual Beat Back Buffelgrass Day on Jan. 25 at multiple locations throughout Pima County.

The non-native grass spreads rapidly and burns hot enough to melt aluminum at 1,400 degrees Fahrenheit. Buffelgrass fires move at a rate of three feet per second, fast enough to burn a football field in three minutes.
