CHEROKEE COUNTY, GEORGIA (WSB/CNN) - Two girls are in the hospital after storms knocked a tree through the roof of their mobile home.
Firefighters in Cherokee County were called out to the home Saturday morning after severe weather moved through.
One girl, a two-year-old, was taken to the hospital to be treated for cuts and scrapes.
Crews had to free another 14-year-old girl who was trapped underneath the tree.
"Like I said, a very delicate situation where we had to keep the tree
stable at all times so it didn't continue to fall on this young
lady. So we were very fortunate to be able to get the necessary
personnel in there and get the necessary equipment to pick that tree up
so she could be removed," said Tim Cavender, PIO, Cherokee County Fire Department.
Firefighters say she was taken to hospital in serious condition but was alert and conscious.
