Downtown motorists will be facing delays as streetcar rails are set to be installed along Elm Street in Over-the-Rhine.
Liberty Street will be closed at Elm Street beginning Thursday at 9 a.m. until Tuesday, January 21 at 7 a.m.
Crews will be working during the closure to install track across the intersection. The majority of the work will occur Thursday through Sunday, with Monday reserved for the concrete track bed to dry.
One northbound lane of Elm Street will remain open during the construction. Traffic traveling east and westbound on Liberty Street will be diverged around the site through clearly posted detour signs
Officials say local access to nearby businesses and residences will not be affected by the work. They also say that the road closure and associated work is weather-dependent.
The Streetcar is set to be finished in 2016.
