A Cincinnati native is set to compete in a nationally televised design competition.

Asha Ama Daniels graduated from UC's Design, Architecture, Art and Planning College (DAAP) in May of 2013 and now she is going to be featured on the upcoming Lifetime reality show Under the Gunn.

Under the Gunn is a fashion design contest hosted by fashion consultant and television personality Tim Gunn. The competition follows aspiring fashion designers as they are presented with challenges and guided by mentors until a single designer remains.

Daniels is the first Cincinnati native to appear on a Lifetime design show and she was able to reveal to FOX19 that she makes it past the first round of the competition.

Daniels featured designs she did as a DAAP student to enter in to the contest, which was filmed in Hollywood. She says she hopes the opportunity will launch her brand nationwide and that she is looking forward to making Cincinnati proud.

Under the Gunn premieres Thursday on Lifetime.
