TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

While the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show will not start until February, the Downtown Tucson Partnership is in need of volunteers now.

More than 50,000 people are expected to visit Tucson for the 60th Annual Gem show, which takes place over a two week span, beginning February 1 and ending February 16.

The Downtown Tucson Partnership is looking for volunteers who are familiar with Downtown Tucson, to help welcome those out of state visitors – by answering questions and providing information on restaurants, attractions, hotels and even parking.  The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show is one of the largest events of its kind and brings more than $100 million into Tucson's economy.

There will be special docent training for the volunteers taking place at the Tucson Convention Center; with one happening this weekend on January 26, and two more on January 28 and 29.  Training will cover information on Downtown, how to get around, where to park, dining, events and how to navigate the Downtown Tucson website.

For those interested in becoming a Gem and Mineral Show volunteer please contact Brandi Haga at brandi@downtowntucson.org.
