PIMA COUNTY, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Today the Pima County Board of Supervisors approved Andrea Dalessandro to fill the senate seat for Legislative District Two, which was left vacant when Linda Lopez stepped down last week. She was selected over nominees Demion Clinco and Annabelle Nunez.
After taking office in January 2013, Representative Dalessandro served on the House Government Committee, as well as the Reform and Human Services Committee.
"The Board of Supervisors chose wisely," said Pima County Democratic Party Chair Don Jorgensen, in a recent news release. "Andrea Dalessandro is a smart, hard-working legislator who will continue to be a strong voice for Southern Arizona in the State Senate."
Dalessandro is tentatively scheduled to take the oath of office tomorrow in Phoenix at the State Capitol. She will serve out the remainder of Lopez's term.
A special election open to elected LD 2 Precinct Committee members who live in Pima County, will be held to help fill Dalessandro's seat in the Arizona House of Representatives; this process will begin when the Speaker of the House informs the Secretary of State of the vacancy.
