State health department rejects list of conditions for access to medical marijuana

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

No new medical conditions will be added to the list of conditions that allow Arizonans to access medical marijuana.

The state health department just refused to add conditions like PTSD, migraines and depression, but supporters will soon have another chance to make their case.

State Health Services Director Will Humble said there is not enough published scientific evidence on the risks and benefits of using marijuana to provide relief for those conditions.

Some of the medical conditions currently accepted for the program are chronic pain and cancer.

Arizona will accept a new round of petitions starting next week.
