HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) -

A Butler County grand jury has indicted a 16-year-old Liberty Township boy as an adult on two counts of attempted aggravated murder and one count of aggravated arson.

Mitchell Paul Simon will be arraigned Jan. 29 in Butler County Common Pleas Court before Judge Craig Hedric.

Crews were called to the 7100 block of Tarragon Court. on Oct. 23 to put out a house fire.

When they arrived, deputies found resident Perry Simon, 50, outside of the house where he had jumped from the second story window, breaking both of his legs.

His wife, Sharon Simon, 56, escaped her second story bedroom with the help of Liberty Township fire crews and deputies. Officers said the couple thought their 16-year-old son was still inside the home.

However, authorities say the boy had tied his parents' bedroom door shut, started a fire outside their door, stole his dad's car and left the scene. He was tracked down a short time later by authorities.

All three charges are first degree felonies.
