New head of Homeland Security visits Southern Arizona

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Yesterday's visit was the first for the newly appointed Secretary of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson. 

He has headed back to Washington D.C. after spending the day in both Douglas and Tucson. 

The new secretary discussed topics along the border from enforcement to deportations.  Secretary Johnson stated border security still needs improving in rural areas. 

After the tour of Douglas, Johnson met with local law enforcement and ranchers who live close to the border; as well as meeting with Border Patrol at the Tucson Sector. 

The new Homeland Security Secretary is planning a future visit to the area to check in with ranchers on the efforts of the Border Patrol.
