Today's Most Interesting Class: College offers course on Jay-Z and Kanye West

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

TODAY'S MOST...interesting college class: The University of Missouri will have a class in the fall semester on Jay-Z and Kanye West.

The course summary says students will compare and contrast what the two stars do with what poets do. They'll also study how their rise to fame and power impact thoughts about the American dream. Yes, watching music videos and listening to music are parts of the class.

The class is under the umbrella of the English department. The professor told a music blog,

"I really do think that these guys are warming up to the level of major poets, and not many people think of it in those terms..."they're very much like painters and novelists in the 20th century, moving beyond the confines of the art form's boundaries."
