TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Darrell Scott Ortega, a member of the Tohono O'odham Nation, has received his sentence for the 2011 stabbing of a Sells man.

Ortega pleaded guilty in July 2013 to the charges of assault resulting in serious bodily injury, according to a U.S. Department of Justice release.  He received 28 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

The case was investigated jointly by the FBI and the Tohono O'odham Nation Police Department.
